Welcome to the “H2OGeeks” team page
We are a Dragon Boat team that is apart of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundations fundraising event called “Paddle for Kids” which is on August 30th, 2009 at Creekside Park in Vancouver.
Who we are:
We started off mainly as a group of “twitter” and other online social media members, but have grown to much more than that. We have siblings, parents, friends, and coworkers on our team. Most of us all started off as strangers, but are growing to together in becoming friends. We all have different dragon boating experiences ranging from total newbies all the way to experienced veterans out on the water. What we all have in common is that we all want to “help put smiles back where they belong” by helping to raise money for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Costs of Joining:
The cost of joining our team is very minimal, all that we ask for is a $40 registration fee** and that every member is to raise a minimum of $100 for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Please make sure you are registered on the team roster, and have signed all registration forms.
When and where practices?
Our practices are Wednesday nights at 7pm down in Granville Island! We meet behind the community center at the benches near the boardwalk, next to the tennis courts. If a practice is canceled for any reason, please be sure to check @H2Ogeeks on twitter, before heading down to Granville Island, or you can check this website.
If you are unable to make it to practice, please give Kimm a call or txt (email her for the number), or you can just sent a tweet to “@H2oGeeks” Please let us know you will not be coming at least 1.5 hours before practice, some of us have to travel from the Fraser Valley for this, and if practice ends up being cancelled, we need adequate time to inform everyone..
** If your $40 registration fee is not paid, you are not “officially” apart of the team. Registration fees are payable to Kimm (cash and checks accepted). Also registration fees are not donations, no tax receipt issued.
We look forward to seeing you out on the water!
